5 New Years Resolutions for Teens
If you’ve got kids in their teens then now is a great time to start talking to them about making new years resolutions. Why not try working on resolutions together?
Some common new years resolutions for teens are:
1. Get fit
Start eating healthy and getting some exercise. Even teens can struggle with motivation. Find some healthy recipes to try for dinner and get your teen outside for regular bike rides, a kick-about or help them learn a sport they’ve been thinking about taking up, like tennis.
2. Become a volunteer
What are your teens interests? Help him/her find a volunteer opportunity that coincides with their interests. Most teens are animal lovers, why not go to the animal shelter and see if they need help? Volunteer with your teen and/or try to convince your other teens to help out too.
3. Find a job
Teens seem to be growing up faster and faster these days, and they seem to want what’s in your wallet on regular ocassions! A great new years resolution for teens would be to help them to find a job, and start earning their own money which they can spend (or save) as they wish. If your teen has already chosen a desired career path, use you business and personal connections to see if anyone has any opportunities in your teen’s chosen field.
4. Study harder
There comes a point when teens realise that to get anywhere in life you have to work hard. With your help, you can make them realise that studying hard now will help to set them up for life. Good grades in high school, means a good springboard into college – university – and on to working life. Put goals in place for your teen to try and stick to, for example so many hours of study per week. It is impossible to make kids study every night, so give them a quota for the week instead, and let them study when they feel comfortable doing it.
5. Take up a new hobby
Teens get bored. Quickly. Encourage them to take up a new hobby. You could even join in yourself!
